The Manager, Accounts Payable is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the accounts payable function while driving process improvements and supporting ongoing ERP system optimization. This role ensures accurate and timely invoice processing, vendor payments, and financial recordkeeping while leading the AP team and collaborating across departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and approve vendor invoices to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company policies prior to payment processing.
- Train, mentor, and support Accounts Payable team members while ensuring accurate accounting records are maintained.
- Review and reconcile Accounts Payable aging reports on a weekly basis in preparation for payment runs.
- Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, payment issues, and processing delays.
- Coordinate and execute scheduled payment runs, ensuring vendors and suppliers are paid accurately and on time.
- Manage vendor payment processes while maintaining strong, professional vendor relationships.
- Process and review employee expense reimbursements in accordance with company policies, as needed.
- Review employee credit card transactions and supporting documentation for accuracy and policy compliance.
- Assist with reporting, account reconciliations, audits, and other accounting or administrative projects.
- Partner with internal departments to resolve accounts payable issues and ensure efficient financial operations.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, streamline workflows, and increase efficiency within the Accounts Payable function.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Five or more years of progressive Accounts Payable experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibilities.
- Experience working for a publicly traded company.
- Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume accounting environment.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing environment, including knowledge of the Goods Received/Invoice Received (GR/IR) process.
- Experience with ERP systems, with NetSuite experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy and urgency.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive working relationships across all levels of an organization.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, solve problems, and drive continuous process improvement.
