Elevation Church in Matthews, NC is seeking an accounts payable professional to process vendor invoices, manage the AvidXchange platform, and maintain strong vendor relationships to ensure timely and accurate payments.

You will support month-end close and collaborate with ministry leaders to keep books current. A degree in accounting or finance with 2+ years of experience is required, along with detail-oriented, effective communication skills.

Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Process vendor invoices with accuracy and speed, review coding for the correct ministry area and budget line
• Manage the invoice processing platform, AvidXchange - from updating the system, to invoice receipt, to approval routing, to disbursement
• Maintain vendor relationships, resolving discrepancies and answering payment questions with clarity and care
• Reconcile the accounts payable ledger monthly to ensure our books stay clean and current
• Own W-9 collection and 1099 preparation to keep us compliant year-round
• Collaborate with the Credit Card Program Administrator to provide support.
• Track and manage employee expense reimbursements against policy
• Partner with ministry leaders across campuses to keep their vendors paid on time
• Support the month-end and year-end close by delivering timely, accurate AP reports to the Finance team

MUST-HAVES

• Active participation in a church (we look for a lifestyle of inviting people to church, volunteering, generosity, and prioritizing community)
• Degree in Accounting or Finance with 2+ years of directly related experience
• Attention to detail with strong analytical and critical thinking skills
• High level of organization and ability to manage multiple invoices and deadlines at once
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for vendor and internal partner interactions

NICE-TO-HAVES

• Experience working in a non-profit environment or ministry setting
• Experience with accounting platforms (e.g., Sage Intacct, QuickBooks, or similar)
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills

DAY-TO-DAY

• We’re a Sunday-Thursday work environment. Monday-Thursday, we’re in the office (8:30AM - 5PM); on Sunday, we’re supporting the weekend worship experience either directly in our roles or by choosing a weekly serving opportunity at one of our Elevation Church campuses.
• There’s a lot to accomplish each week, so we’re pretty fast-paced. We’re also not afraid to pivot a strategy or project quickly to meet the needs of the weekend - adaptability is a key competence for us.
