Job summary

Salem Academy and College in Winston-Salem, NC, seeks an Accounts Payable Manager to oversee the entire disbursement cycle, ensure accuracy and timeliness, and maintain strong internal controls across the institution.

You will supervise the AP staff, manage vendor relations, handle 1099/1042-S reporting, and partner with Budget Managers on grant and donor-restricted spending while advancing process improvements and automation.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of progressively responsible accounts payable or related accounting experience.
• Experience in higher education or nonprofit accounting preferred.
• Strong proficiency with Excel and data reporting.
• Experience with ERP systems and electronic invoice/workflow tools.

Responsibilities

• Manage full accounts payable and disbursement cycle for Academy and College.
• Oversee invoice processing, purchase order matching, and employee reimbursements.
• Maintain vendor master file and W-9/W-8 forms; resolve vendor inquiries.
• Prepare 1099-NEC/1099-MISC and related reporting; support audits.
• Strengthen internal controls and prevent fraud; monitor payment activity.
• Collaborate with HR/Payroll on independent contractor determinations.
