Job summary

The Illinois Department of Corrections seeks an Accountant to establish and maintain AP accounts for agencies served by Public Safety Shared Services, reconcile SAP and Comptroller reports, and respond to complex accounting inquiries.

The role requires four years of college in business/admin and accounting or equivalent experience, with potential for leadership duties and a union environment. Hybrid in-office schedule preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires four years of college with courses in business administration and accounting or four years of technical accounting experience.
• Upward Mobility Program may allow proficiency tests/training in lieu of requirements.
• Prefers at least five years of professional accounting/auditing experience.
• Prefers intermediate proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Establishes and maintains Accounts Payable accounts for agencies served by Public Safety Shared Services.
• Reconciles SAP and Comptroller system reports.
• Responds to technical inquiries regarding accounting requirements and practices for AP systems.
• Serves as designated lead worker.
• Responds to management inquiries.
