Job summary

Veridian Homes is seeking an Accounts Payable & Job Cost Accountant to join our Finance team. This role combines accounts payable responsibilities with job cost accounting to ensure costs for home construction, lots, neighborhoods, and land development are accurately recorded.

You will process and reconcile AP, maintain job cost records, and support month-end close. The ideal candidate has 2+ years in accounting, with AP experience and preferred job cost or construction project accounting

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field (or experience in lieu of degree).
• Minimum of two years of accounting experience.
• Experience in accounts payable is required; job cost accounting experience preferred.
• Construction/homebuilding or project-based accounting and purchase order processes preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process and code vendor invoices with accurate GL, job, and cost coding.
• Review invoices, POs, and supporting documentation for accuracy and proper authorization.
• Assist with weekly AP check runs and respond to vendor/payment inquiries.
• Reconcile vendor statements, intercompany activity, and credit cards.
• Maintain vendor/Trade Partner records, W-9s, lien waivers, and related docs.
• Maintain and reconcile job cost records for home construction projects.
• Research and resolve job cost, PO, invoice, coding, and posting discrepancies.
• Prepare approved job cost journal entries, reclassifications, allocations, and accruals.
• Support month-end and year-end close activities and related schedules.
• Provide accounting detail and documentation to support project cost-outs, variance reviews, audits, and internal controls.

Veridian Homes is seeking an Accounts Payable & Job Cost Accountant to join our Finance team. This role combines accounts payable responsibilities with job cost accounting to ensure costs associated with home construction, lots, neighborhoods, and land development are accurately recorded and available for financial reporting and analysis.

The Accounts Payable & Job Cost Accountant will process and reconcile accounts payable activity, maintain job cost accounting records, research discrepancies, and support month-end and year-end close activities. This position works closely with Finance and other internal teams to ensure accurate and timely accounting information.

A successful candidate will have an associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field and a minimum of two years of accounting experience. Experience in lieu of a degree will be considered. Previous accounts payable experience is required, and job cost accounting experience is preferred. Construction, homebuilding, or other project-based accounting experience and experience with purchase order processes are also preferred.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy while meeting deadlines. The ability to manage multiple priorities, communicate effectively, and work both independently and collaboratively is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience working with accounting or ERP systems are required, along with intermediate Excel skills.
