Job summary

Veridian Homes is seeking an Accounts Payable & Job Cost Accountant to join our Finance team. This role blends AP processing with job cost tracking to ensure costs for home construction, lots, neighborhoods, and land development are accurately recorded.

You will work with Finance and other teams to support month-end close, reconcile vendor and job cost data, and provide detailed documentation for cost reporting, audits, and internal controls.

Qualifications

• Two years of accounting experience required.
• Accounts payable experience required.
• Job cost accounting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process and code vendor invoices across AP and job cost modules.
• Review invoices, PO, and documents for accuracy and authorization.
• Assist with weekly AP check runs and respond to vendor inquiries.
• Reconcile vendor statements, intercompany activity, and credit card records.
• Maintain vendor records, W-9s, lien waivers, and related documentation.
• Maintain and reconcile job cost records for construction projects.
• Research and resolve job cost, PO, invoice, coding, and posting discrepancies.
• Prepare journal entries, reclassifications, allocations, and accruals for job costs.
• Support month-end and year-end close activities.
• Provide documentation for project cost-outs, variance reviews, audits, and internal controls.

Veridian Homes is seeking an Accounts Payable & Job Cost Accountant to join our Finance team. This role combines accounts payable responsibilities with job cost accounting to ensure costs associated with home construction, lots, neighborhoods, and land development are accurately recorded and available for financial reporting and analysis.

The Accounts Payable & Job Cost Accountant will process and reconcile accounts payable activity, maintain job cost accounting records, research discrepancies, and support month-end and year-end close activities. This position works closely with Finance and other internal teams to ensure accurate and timely accounting information.

What You'll Do

• Process and code vendor invoices, ensuring accurate vendor, general ledger, job, and cost coding
• Review invoices, purchase orders, and supporting documentation for accuracy and proper authorization
• Assist with weekly accounts payable check runs and respond to vendor and Trade Partner payment inquiries
• Reconcile vendor statements, intercompany activity, company credit cards, and other accounts payable records
• Maintain vendor and Trade Partner records, W-9 documentation, lien waivers, and other required documentation
• Maintain and reconcile job cost records for home construction, lots, neighborhoods, and land development projects
• Research and resolve job cost, purchase order, invoice, coding, and posting discrepancies
• Prepare approved job cost journal entries, reclassifications, allocations, and accruals
• Support month-end and year-end close activities, including reconciliations and supporting schedules
• Provide accounting detail and documentation to support project cost-outs, variance review, audits, internal controls, and other accounting projects

A successful candidate will have an associate or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field and a minimum of two years of accounting experience. Experience in lieu of a degree will be considered. Previous accounts payable experience is required, and job cost accounting experience is preferred. Construction, homebuilding, or other project-based accounting experience and experience with purchase order processes are also preferred.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy while meeting deadlines. The ability to manage multiple priorities, communicate effectively, and work both independently and collaboratively is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience working with accounting or ERP systems are required, along with intermediate Excel skills.
