Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) seeks an Accounting Technician III to perform technical accounting tasks in the Controller’s Office, auditing high-volume invoices and ensuring compliance with State and Federal guidelines while maintaining accurate financial records in NCAS and NCFS.

You will manage invoice batches, monitor match exceptions, apply eligible discounts, and support fiscal reporting, coordinating with vendors, budget officers, and division staff to

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Accounting with two years of accounting experience OR equivalent
• Experience auditing and processing high-volume invoices in NCAS and NCFS
• Ability to manage invoice batches from entry through final payment and resolve discrepancies

Responsibilities

• Audit high-volume invoices for compliance with State and Federal policies prior to payment processing.
• Review purchase orders for funding, ensure invoices are coded and approved.
• Monitor match exceptions and resolve outstanding issues.
• Process escheats and travel advance payments in ACTS and CORE systems.
• Manage invoice batches from entry through final payment and filing.
• Apply discounts to eligible invoices and document incomplete status.
