The Salvation Army, headquartered in Portland, Maine, seeks an Accounting Coordinator to manage accounts payable and daily deposits. The role reports to the Finance Director/Controller and emphasizes accurate GL coding, vendor reconciliations, and confidential handling of financial data.

Daily tasks include processing invoices in Serenic, journaling entries, and weekly reconciliations, with opportunities to contribute to special analyses and projects within a mission-driven nonprofit environment.

Qualificações

• One year of college or technical school and/or one to three years of related experience.
• Basic accounting and Excel skills.
• Ability to organize work, set priorities, and meet deadlines across multiple tasks.
• Clear verbal and written communication with a customer service approach.
• Ability to keep information confidential and handle difficult situations professionally.

Responsabilidades

• Process invoices for payment in Serenic, including general ledger coding and documentation review.
• Review vendor statements for past due balances and resolve discrepancies with vendors.
• Print AP checks and maintain payables files under records retention policy.
• Prepare daily deposits and receipts, enter them in Serenic, and update the cash position.
• Enter journal entries in Serenic and maintain journal files.
• Reconcile weekly settlements and transfer funds.
• Complete special analysis or projects.
