Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of accounting experience in a law firm.
• Personal injury law firm experience preferred.
• Fluent in Spanish.
• Proficient in QuickBooks Online.
• Strong knowledge of QuickBooks, including reconciliations and reporting.
• Experience preparing settlement and client disbursement statements.
• Knowledge of client trust accounts and settlement funds.
• Ability to calculate attorney fees, case expenses, liens, and distributions.
• Excel and general accounting procedures knowledge.
• Excellent attention to detail and organization.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review settlement/disbursement statements.
• Track settlement funds from receipt through final distribution.
• Process and document payments to clients, medical providers, lienholders, and other parties.
• Maintain accurate settlement and accounting records.
• QuickBooks Online entries and account reconciliations.
• Maintain and reconcile operating and trust-account transactions.
• Ensure signed releases and disbursement documents are in client files.
• Work with attorneys and staff to ensure timely distributions.
• Identify and report accounting discrepancies.

Personal injury law firm is seeking an experienced Accounting / Settlement Specialist to handle settlement accounting, client distributions, and firm accounting responsibilities.

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of accounting experience in a law firm
• Personal injury law firm experience strongly preferred
• Fluent Spanish required
• Proficient in QuickBooks Online – required
• Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks, including reconciliations, transaction recording, reporting, and account management
• Experience preparing settlement and client disbursement statements
• Experience reviewing settlement releases and settlement documentation
• Knowledge of client trust accounts and settlement funds
• Ability to accurately calculate attorney fees, case expenses, medical balances, liens, and client distributions
• Experience reconciling settlement proceeds and accounting records
• Strong knowledge of Excel and general accounting procedures
• Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and accuracy
