Job summary

ButcherBox, LLC is seeking a temporary Accounts Payable specialist to handle all AP activities while a teammate is on parental leave. The role works with multiple departments to manage vendors, invoices, and approvals.

You will join the finance team as a full contributor during the assignment, bringing strong problem-solving and collaboration skills. The ideal candidate has 3+ years of AP experience, solid Excel and reconciliation abilities, and experience with NetSuite ERP.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience running accounts payable for a medium or large business
• Strong Excel, analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and high transaction volumes while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across numerous departments and stakeholders
• A naturally curious and solutions-oriented mindset

Responsibilities

• Maintain AP internal and external email communications and invoice delivery
• Post electronic files for AP charges in the appropriate software system daily
• Prepare all check runs
• Ensure all AP is correctly coded to approvers and GL accounts
• Set up all new vendors in the accounting system and keep vendor master data updated
• Follow up on outstanding checks and maintain abandoned property files
• Organize and maintain auditable documentation and files
• Prepare month-end, year-end close, and reports for management or audits
• Prepare vendor credit applications and coordinate with Legal
• Assist in year-end issuance of 1099s
• Verify, analyze and report AP activities and metrics monthly
• Oversee company credit card spend and monthly reconciliations
• Support month-end close and reporting with data and metrics
• Collaborate on system implementations and process improvements
• Help resolve vendor, customer, and internal questions about AP

About the Job

The person in this role will be responsible for all things Accounts Payable while a teammate is out on parental leave. You will work cross-functionally with all departments to manage vendors, invoices, and approval processes and more.

We are looking for someone curious, empathetic, and able to evaluate problems from multiple angles and points of view. While this is a temporary contract, you will be a fully integrated member of our finance team while you’re here, attending team meetings, collaborating with stakeholders across the company, and bringing your unique expertise to the role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain Accounts Payable internal and external email communications and invoice delivery
• Post electronic files for AP charges in theappropriate software system daily
• Prepare all check runs
• Ensure all AP is correctly coded to approvers and GL accounts
• Set up all new vendors in the accounting system, and ensure the vendor master file records are keptup to date including vendor address, W9, ACH information and 1099 status
• Follow up on outstanding checks andmaintain abandoned property files
• Organize andmaintain auditable documentation and files
• Prepare month-end, year-end close, and specially requested reports for management or audits
• Prepare vendor credit applications and work with our legal team whenrequired
• Assist in the year-end issuance of 1099s
• Verify,analyze and report A/P activities and metrics monthly
• Responsible for all company credit card spend. Including virtual card issuance, monthly reconciliation, and receipt matching for all card holders
• Support month-end close procedures including account reconciliations
• Support monthly and quarterly reporting, compiling data and metrics
• Work with the Accounting team on various projects such as system implementations and accounting operational improvement
• Proactively help to investigate and resolve questions from vendors, customers, and internal business partners around A/P

What We’re Looking For:

• 3+ years of experience running accounts payable for a medium or large business
• ERP experience, NetSuite preferred
• Strong Excel, analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and high transaction volumes while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across numerous departments and stakeholders
• A naturally curious and solutions-oriented mindset

Compensation:

$50/hour
