What You'll Actually Do
  • Audit Records: Review and audit employer accounting records, including payroll, general ledgers, profit and loss statements, and federal reports, to ensure compliance with laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Establish Liability: Determine employment tax liability, establish and manage employer tax accounts, and verify employers are complying with the Texas Unemployment Compensation Act (TUCA).
  • Collect Delinquencies: Contact employers to collect delinquent reports and taxes, and perform various skip tracing techniques and investigations to resolve account problems.
  • Assist Employers: Prepare or adjust employer quarterly reports as necessary, assist employers in the preparation of tax forms, and audit forms for accuracy and completeness.
  • Communicate Information: Provide information to employers, legislators, and state or federal agencies regarding TUCA and other state and federal laws, and recommend collection actions when appropriate.
The Must-Haves
  • Background: Entry-Level. One year of full-time experience in maintaining accounting records or performing auditing work. Relevant academic credits may be applied toward experience qualifications.
  • Experience: One year of experience maintaining accounting records or performing auditing work. Experience with payroll records, financial records, and statements is highly valued.
  • Skills: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to handle multiple priorities, meet strict deadlines, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bonus: Experience or education in accounting or auditing, investigations, collections, providing information regarding the Texas Unemployment Compensation Act (TUCA) or other State and Federal laws, public speaking skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
