Job summary

JBS Foods in Ottumwa, IA seeks an Accounting Supervisor for 1st shift to oversee daily yields, supervise clerks, and ensure timely reporting. This role requires a Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance, strong Excel/Word skills, and the ability to communicate in English.

Typical hours are 5:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with Saturdays when the plant runs. The position offers opportunities to improve reporting processes, lead a team, and contribute to plant efficiency while maintaining

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required, or equivalent experience.
• Must have strong accounting and office experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Review and finalize the daily yields for management each morning.
• Supervise yield and billing clerks and ensure accuracy.
• Suggest improvements to production reporting for efficiency.
• Meet local and corporate deadlines and priorities.
• Be able to handle multiple tasks timely and efficiently.
• Cover accounting jobs as needed and support the department.
• Perform other duties to ensure accounting operations run smoothly.
• Typical hours are 5:00 AM - 2:00 PM, Monday-Friday, Saturdays when plant runs.

POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

POSITION: Accounting Supervisor 1st Shift

DEPARTMENT: Accounting

LOCATION: Ottumwa

SALARY CLASS: E exempt

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Review and finalize the daily yields to provide to management upon arrival in morning.
• Supervise yield and billing clerks.
• Recommend improvement to production reporting activities to ensure the most efficient and effective operations.
• Must meet local and corporate deadlines.
• Be able to handle multiple tasks timely and efficiently.
• Able to cover accounting jobs when needed.
• Perform various other tasks as needed to ensure efficiency in the accounting department
• Other duties as needed.
• Typical working hours are 5:00 AM - 2:00 PM Monday-Friday. Saturdays required when plant is running.

Internal: Employees on the production line and plant management.

• Good attendance and safety records (Less than 3 points, for internal candidates)

Education:

• Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance required, or equivalent experience
