Job summary

JBS in Ottumwa is seeking an Accounting Supervisor for the 1st shift in the Accounting department. The role requires supervising yield and billing clerks, ensuring timely daily yield finalization, and meeting both local and corporate deadlines.

The candidate should hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and must be proficient with Excel and Word, with strong leadership and communication skills. Expect to work 5:00 AM–2:00 PM, Monday–Friday, with Saturdays when the plant runs.

POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

POSITION: Accounting Supervisor 1st Shift

DEPARTMENT: Accounting

LOCATION: Ottumwa

SALARY CLASS: E exempt

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Review and finalize the daily yields to provide to management upon arrival in morning.
• Supervise yield and billing clerks.
• Recommend improvement to production reporting activities to ensure the most efficient and effective operations.
• Must meet local and corporate deadlines.
• Be able to handle multiple tasks timely and efficiently.
• Able to cover accounting jobs when needed.
• Perform various other tasks as needed to ensure efficiency in the accounting department
• Other duties as needed.
• Typical working hours are 5:00 AM – 2:00 PM Monday-Friday. Saturdays required when plant is running.

Internal: Employees on the production line and plant management.

• Good attendance and safety records (Less than 3 points, for internal candidates)

Education:

• Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance required, or equivalent experience
