Job summary

Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office is seeking an Accounting Technician to perform paraprofessional accounting work in support of the county's fiscal programs. Responsibilities include general accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, treasury, data compilation, and reconciling diverse fiscal documents.

Qualifications require a High School Diploma or GED and two years of college coursework in accounting, finance, or related fields.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Two years of college level coursework in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Performs paraprofessional accounting work in support of assigned fiscal program area including general accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable and treasury.
• Plans, schedules, assigns and reviews work; assists in hiring and training; monitors performance.
• Researches, analyzes and resolves issues within the functional area; coordinates with other departments as needed.
• Ensures provision of optimal customer service and accuracy in financial processing.
• Performs complex calculations including tax calculations for various properties; handles delinquent accounts as needed.
• Reconciles financial transactions, purchase orders and invoices to ensure compliance with guidelines.

Education
