Job summary

Carver County in Minnesota is seeking an Accounting Technician to join its Health & Human Services team. Under minimal supervision, you will perform varied accounting functions including billing, receipting, payment processing, collections and monthly/quarterly reporting, while delivering excellent customer service to internal and external inquiries.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years accounting or related clerical/administrative experience.
• Experience with medical billing and/or public health finance is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of accounting activities including billing, receipting, payment processing, collections and reporting for Health and Human Services.
• Safeguards and maintains customer information.
• Researches and informs internal/external customers about payment and billing activities.
• Submits medical billing to Minnesota Health Care Plans, private providers and third-party providers; follows up on denials or partial payments.
• Provides backup and assistance within the unit as assigned.
• Performs other comparable duties as needed.

Carver County is looking for an Accounting Technician to join our Health & Human Services team! Under minimal supervision of the Accounting Supervisor, the Accounting Technician performs varied accounting functions to include accounts payable and receivable, collections, insurance billing, account analysis and monthly /quarterly financial reporting. Provides excellent customer service to both internal and external customer inquiries regarding Health & Human Services fiscal activities.

Upon successful completion of the probationary period, this position is eligible for partial remote work.

The responsibilities are:

• Performs a variety of accounting activities associated with the billing, receipting, payment processing, collections and reporting services provided by Carver County Health and Human Services.
• Follows procedures to safeguard and maintain customer information.
• Researches, summarizes and informs internal and external customers of pertinent information regarding payment and billing activities.
• Performs collection activities to recover outstanding receivables owed to Carver County Health and Human Services for services provided.
• Submits medical billing to Minnesota Health Care Plans, private providers and third-party providers. This includes obtaining authorizations and follow-up on all denials or partially paid claims.
• Provides back-up, support and/or assistance functions within the unit as assigned.
• Performs other comparable duties of a like or similar nature as assigned.
