Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in Roanoke, VA is seeking an Accounting Technician at the GS-6/7 level to perform a variety of accounting and clerical tasks.

The role involves maintaining accounts, processing payables and receivables, and supporting financial activities within the VISN 2 HSA 2.1 Centralized Finance Service. Qualified candidates will have at least one year of specialized accounting experience comparable to GS-5 or GS-6, as well as strong data entry and customer service

Qualifications

• One year of specialized accounting/financial experience equivalent to GS-5 level.
• For GS-7, one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-6, including clerical/technician support of financial functions and transaction analysis.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accounts and documents and perform accounting/financial activities.
• Analyse and examine financial data, payables, receivables, and obligations.
• Provide customer service and communicate with customers both verbally and in writing.
• Handle administrative, decision-making, technical and clerical tasks.
