Holland America-Princess seeks an Accounting Technician 3 to join the Retirement and Benefits Finance Section in Juneau, AK. You will ensure timely and accurate payments to retirement beneficiaries, manage warrant control for payroll, and handle tax remittances and journal entries for various deductions and recalls.
The role requires two years of technical accounting, with substitutions available via certifications or related education.

Working in the Retirement and Benefits Finance Section, the Accounting Technician 3 is responsible for meaningful work that ensures retirement benefit recipients are paid timely and accurately. Key responsibilities of this position include warrant control for payroll processing, preparing the federal income tax remittance, processing financial journal entries for EFT recalls, stale dated warrants, medical health premiums, and returned benefits, remitting garnishment withholding payments and various accounting reconciliations. Experience with IRIS and ALDER is preferred but not required.
The Division of Retirement and Benefits administers the State of Alaska and political subdivision retirement and benefits plans. The Division of Retirement and Benefits continues to support the needs of retirees while providing customer services to active members. The mission of the Finance section/Accounting unit is to provide timely and accurate financial reporting for the plans administered by the division.

After a 1 year probationary period, there is the option for a hybrid telework agreement. If selected for the position, applicant must be willing to reside within communting distance of the City and Borough of Juneau.
This position is located on the 6th floor of the State Office Building in beautiful downtown Juneau. The office hours are typically between 7:30 and 4:00 or 8:00 and 4:30 Monday through Friday.
Two years of technical level accounting or bookkeeping experience, of which at least one year was at the full-proficiency level.
