Qualifications

• One year of clerical work experience maintaining records with computer systems and performing basic arithmetic calculations.
• Substitutions: a formal vocational education program in accounting or bookkeeping may substitute for the required experience.
• Post secondary education from an accredited college may substitute for the required experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month).
• Accounting Technician 2 requires one year of entry level accounting or clerical bookkeeping experience; substitutions: college accounting credentials or education.”

Responsibilities

• Process payroll and equipment cost transfers at the Accounting Technician 1 level with guidance.
• Review financial coding and assist with researching and correcting accounting errors.
• Maintain financial records and spreadsheets; assist with reviewing purchasing requests and purchasing card transactions for accuracy and compliance.
• At the Accounting Technician 2 level, independently process payroll and equipment cost transfers; analyze financial reports; resolve discrepancies; prepare adjusting entries.
