Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. is seeking an Accounting Team Lead in New Jersey to guide the general ledger team through month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and close processes. The role ensures GAAP compliance, internal controls, and policy adherence across multiple entities.

You will supervise staff, review entries, and collaborate with internal teams on accounting issues, while supporting process improvements and special projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Accounting.
• 5-7+ years accounting experience.
• Previous supervisory or team-lead experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial accounting principles.
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems (SAP, Workday, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics) or similar. Workday preferred.
• Strong Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, and support accounting team members responsible for general ledger activities.
• Prepare, review, and approve journal entries, accruals, and accounting adjustments.
• Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring deadlines and accuracy.
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations; investigate variances and resolve items.
• Maintain accuracy and integrity of the general ledger across multiple entities.
• Review SG&A expenses for proper GL classification and review rent schedule coding.
