Job summary

Montana Department of Administration is seeking an Accountant with SABHRS experience to join our team, ensuring SABHRS modules meet accounting needs across state government.

You will translate business requirements to SABHRS programming, work with state accountants, and collaborate with the SABHRS team in a supportive environment that balances work and personal life. Telework is available with weekly in-office days in Helena.

What is this career opportunity?

We are looking for an experienced Accountant with an understanding of SABHRS to join our team of 6 Financial Systems Analysts. Simply put, these roles act as translators between the business owners, the State Accountants, and our SABHRS programing team. You would be integral in ensuring SABHRS functions to meet the needs of Accountants across State Government. The Financials Systems Analyst is responsible for:

• Overseeing the installation, configuration, and testing for new, existing, or modified SABHRS (PeopleSoft) modules.
• Focusing on meeting the business needs of our stakeholders.
• Testing components to determine system performance.
• Trouble-shooting system issues.
• Providing solutions to the State’s business process issues.
• Conducting research about existing and emerging technologies to recommend improvements and efficiencies.
• Technical support and project management.
• Accounting and SABHRS experience are both crucial to this role, and we are ready and willing to train the technical aspects the successful candidate will need to learn. In this position you will be afforded the opportunity to telework, however there will be required weekly in office day(s) in Helena. Specific conditions will be outlined as part of the job offer and must adhere to state policy.

Education and Experience:

• A bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or related field and two years applicable experience. OR
• An associate’s degree in accounting, or related field and four years applicable experience. AND
• Alternate combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case‑by‑case basis.
