Job summary

The Legislative Audit Division (LAD) in Montana's Legislative Branch is seeking a Financial Compliance Associate Auditor to join a team auditing state agencies and programs. You will interview agency personnel, test controls and account balances, and use analytics to evaluate transaction cycles.

Based in Helena with potential telework up to half-time, the role offers a starting salary of $68,080, plus health, retirement, and extensive paid time off.

Who We Are:

The Legislative Audit Division (LAD), part of the Montana State Legislative Branch, is constitutionally tasked with auditing State agencies and programs. Our mission is to increase public trust in state government by reporting timely and accurate information about agency operations, technology, and finances.

What You Need:

Minimum requirements include:

• Bachelor’s degree by start of employment
• 6 semester hours (or equivalent quarter hours) of relevant upper division accounting coursework, including intermediate accounting courses. Other combinations of education may be considered.

Our office is located in Helena, the capital of Montana and the center of state government. While your desk will be located in the vicinity of the beautiful State Capitol campus, you will perform a lot of your work in agency buildings located around Helena. You will also occasionally travel for agencies outside of Helena, such as the universities.

This position is eligible for telework up to half-time.
