Job summary

Chugach Electric Association in Anchorage, AK seeks a Supervisor, Accounting to oversee daily accounting operations including payroll, accounts payable and general ledger, ensuring GAAP compliance and accurate financial reporting.

You will lead a team, guide staff, support audits, and coordinate month-end close, with opportunities to improve processes in a stable utility environment. This role offers exposure to regulatory reporting and internal controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or related discipline required; CPA preferred.
• Three years of progressively responsible accounting, financial management and plant accounting experience including team leadership.
• Knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards; experience in utility/union environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily accounting activities to ensure GAAP-compliant financial reporting.
• Oversee balance sheet reconciliations and month-end close tasks.
• Review journal entries and AP/GL processes for accuracy and compliance.
• Support audits by compiling requested items from accounting.
• Coordinate regulatory reporting to state and federal agencies.
• Provide day-to-day guidance, training, and coaching to accounting staff.
• Assist with process improvements and operational efficiency.
• Supervise Payroll, General Ledger, and Accounts Payable under the CBA.
