Job summary

Arizona Department of Transportation is seeking an Accounting Supervisor on a role that manages contractor payments and construction-related expenditures. You will supervise the payments process, integrity of the chart of accounts, and compliance with prompts and audits while guiding staff.

The position offers flexibility with a remote work option within Arizona and up to two days in-office. Strong knowledge of government accounting and supervisory experience are highly valued.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting with supervisory experience or related field with 24 accounting hours.
  • Two years of governmental accounting experience is preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft and Google tools preferred.

Accounting Supervisor 1 THIS POSITION IS OPEN TO CURRENT ADOT EMPLOYEES ONLY Job Location: 2160 - FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT SERVICES 800 W. Washington Street, Phoenix, AZ 85007 Posting Details Salary: $74,132.97 - $84,132.97 Anticipated Salary: $79,132.97 Grade: 22 Closing Date Job Summary: Supervises all payments to contractors, consultants, local governments, railroad and utility construction and in support of the highway construction program along with other programs. Responsible for the oversight on all chart of account elements for all related construction payments, reimbursements and in-kind entries and oversees all internal/external audits for those payments. Responsible for following all prompt pay statutes in accordance with all Arizona Revised Statutes. This position may be available for remote work within Arizona (2 days per week in the office/hoteling). Job Duties Supervises all payments to contractors, consultants, local governments, railroad and utility construction and in support of the highway construction program. Assists and trains staff on system issues and requirements along with new innovations and procedural updates and all cross training within the unit. Assists with development and change management of the Utility analysis and Abandoned Vehicle program. Knowledge Of Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

  • Automated accounting system: to process vendor payments.
  • Microsoft and Google applications and general databases to prepare spreadsheets.
  • Prepare correspondence to staff and areas outside of the unit/department.
  • Modify and run reports using SQL inquiries.
  • Accounting and math: to ensure accuracy of payment coding and to calculate monies on purchase orders to ensure that invoices will be processed accurately.

Selective Preference(s) Bachelor's degree with a major in accounting from an accredited college or university; OR a Bachelor's degree in a related field with a minimum of 24 semester hours of accounting courses and previous relevant work experience which include supervisory experience. Two years of governmental accounting experience and two years of supervisory experience. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft and Google tools and applications is preferred. Pre-Employment Requirements Valid state driver's license with an acceptable 39 month driving history.
