Job summary

Carter Rolan Group is recruiting an experienced Accounting Supervisor for a large, established organization within the US energy sector.

This is a key leadership role overseeing pipeline and storage accounting, with responsibility for GAAP compliance, month‑end close and financial reporting, plus coaching a small team.

The position offers cross‑functional exposure to Accounting, Commercial, Operations, Regulatory and IT, with a hybrid schedule and a salary range.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial accounting principles.
• Proven experience supervising accounting professionals.
• Experience with month-end close, reconciliations and reporting.
• Experience in a strong internal control environment.
• CPA not required.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a team of accounting professionals.
• Oversee operational and settlement accounting activities.
• Review journal entries, account reconciliations and financial reports.
• Support accurate and timely month end and year end close.
• Ensure GAAP and SOX compliance and internal accounting policies.
• Analyze financial results, investigate discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
• Support internal and external audit requirements.
• Partner with operational and commercial stakeholders to resolve accounting issues.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen controls and reduce risk.
• Drive process improvement, standardization and automation initiatives.

Carter Rolan Group is recruiting an experienced Accounting Supervisor on behalf of a large, established organization within the US energy sector.

This is a key leadership position within the operational accounting function, with responsibility for overseeing accounting and reporting activities relating to pipeline and storage operations. The successful candidate will combine strong technical accounting expertise with proven people leadership and a continuous improvement mindset.

The position offers significant cross functional exposure, partnering with Accounting, Commercial, Operations, Regulatory and IT teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a team of accounting professionals
• Oversee operational and settlement accounting activities
• Review journal entries, account reconciliations and financial reports
• Support accurate and timely month end and year end close
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, SOX requirements and internal accounting policies
• Analyze financial results, investigate discrepancies and recommend corrective actions
• Support internal and external audit requirements
• Partner with operational and commercial stakeholders to resolve accounting issues
• Identify opportunities to strengthen controls and reduce risk
• Drive process improvement, standardization and automation initiatives

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related discipline
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial accounting principles
• Proven experience supervising, coaching and reviewing the work of accounting professionals
• Strong experience with month end close, reconciliations and financial reporting
• Experience working within a strong internal control environment
• Strong analytical and problem solving capabilities
• Experience with accounting systems and financial reporting tools
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively
• Midstream, natural gas, pipeline or broader energy sector experience would be highly advantageous
• CPA is not required

Package & Working Arrangement

• Salary: $100,000 to $145,000
• Hybrid working: Monday through Thursday in office, Friday remote
• Full time permanent position
