Carter Rolan Group is recruiting an experienced Accountant III to join the operational accounting function of a large, established organization within the US energy sector.
This position will play an important role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial results across gas operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for complex accounting activities while partnering closely with Financial Reporting, Commercial, Operations and wider Accounting teams.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze accounting entries and supporting financial information
- Perform detailed account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
- Review operational and financial results for accuracy and completeness
- Support the monthly close and financial reporting process
- Perform variance analysis and provide insight into financial results
- Support budgeting, forecasting and other financial analysis activities
- Partner with Commercial, Operations and Accounting teams to research and resolve issues
- Support internal and external audit and reporting requirements
- Ensure accounting activities comply with GAAP and internal accounting policies
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and controls
- Support standardization, automation and system improvement initiatives
- Participate in special projects and ad hoc financial analysis
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial accounting principles
- Experience preparing journal entries, reconciliations and financial reports
- Strong month end close experience
- Experience analyzing financial results and variances
- Strong analytical, investigative and problem solving skills
- Experience working with accounting systems and financial reporting tools
- Ability to work effectively across accounting, commercial and operational functions
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline driven environment
- Midstream, natural gas or broader energy accounting experience would be highly advantageous
- CPA is not required
Package & Working Arrangement
- Salary: $100,000 to $125,000
- Hybrid working: Monday through Thursday in office, Friday remote
- Full time permanent position
