Job summary

Veritiv in Buena Park, CA is seeking an Accounting Supervisor to lead professional accounting tasks, including consolidation, analysis, journal entries, and asset/inventory accounting. This hybrid role supports month-end closes and reporting to ensure accuracy for SEC filings.

The candidate should have 5–10 years in accounting, strong GAAP knowledge in manufacturing, and CMA/CPA credentials preferred. The role emphasizes collaboration with FP&A, process improvements, and internal controls

Qualifications

  • 5–10 years of related job experience.
  • Targeted cost accounting/manufacturing experience.
  • Knowledge of Amtech or Encore systems.
  • Strong GAAP understanding for manufacturing.
  • Ability to develop internal controls and improvements.
  • Experience with FP&A partnering.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain assigned general ledger and subsidiary ledger accounts by reviewing documents to ensure accuracy of information and calculations, preparing supporting schedules, recording appropriate journal entries consistent with US GAAP, and reconciling on a monthly basis.
  • Assist in the month-end, quarter-end and year-end close.
  • Act as the subject matter expert and demonstrate proficiency of local or US GAAP in assigned accounting area, including technical accounting research and documentation.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of quarterly and annual reporting packages to support SEC filings.
  • Ownership of specific optimization initiatives utilizing in house process improvement applications.
  • Review financial results for completeness by preparing various reports, schedules, and reconciliations.
  • Support various audits by providing accounting documents, schedules, and other relevant information.
  • Develop and implement process improvements to eliminate non-value added tasks.

Job Purpose

Job Responsibilities

Additional Responsibilities & Qualifications
  • Targeted experience – cost accounting / manufacturing, Amtech or Encore system knowledge
  • Strong understanding of GAAP as it relates to a manufacturing business
  • Maintain, develop and improve internal controls and compliance
  • Ability to partner with the business to accurately account for and report material, labor and overhead costs; including but not limited to inventory accuracy, inventory reconciliations, standard costing, etc.
  • Interest in investigating and understanding material, labor and cost variances to highlight opportunities for the business to act
  • Maintain, develop and improve on operational KPIs to ensure business leaders have real-time financial information to drive action
  • Support budgeting, forecasting and mid-month performance tracking as local business partners to inform FP&A’s perspective
Work Experience
  • 5-10 years of related job experience.
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Certified Management Accountant (CMA) - Institute of Management Accountants
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) - American Institute of Certified Public Accountants
