Job summary

The Association of Former Students in College Station is seeking a part-time accounting assistant to support our accounting team. You will help with data entry, filing, vendor invoices, and W-9 processing, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.

This role provides hands-on experience in GAAP, internal controls, and fund processing for annual fund and endowments, under the Controller. Ideal for accounting students pursuing a bachelor’s degree who want to contribute to scholarships and student aid

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• Knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.
• Strong proofreading, time management, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with input and filing of W-9s.
• Ensures all disbursement items are properly and timely routed.
• Data entry for assigned expense vouchers, vendor invoices, employee expense reports and BOA reports.
• Assist with data entry for annual fund, ring and miscellaneous cash receipts and receivables.
• Assist with all other data entry as necessary.
• Scan invoices and organize scans in computer files.
• Process check run.
• Scan select journal vouchers or cash receipts.
• Obtain signatures on all open items.
• File all accounting items (cash receipts, payables, journal vouchers, account reconciliations, etc.)
• Assist with various account reconciliations.
• Assist accounting staff with basic inquiries requiring MIP software.
• Other duties as assigned.
