Job summary

HMSHost is seeking an Accounting Specialist II in Miami, FL. The role covers complex clerical accounting across general ledger, A/R, A/P, and payroll, ensuring accurate reconciliations and administrative support.

The candidate will interact with banks, vendors, and internal teams while maintaining cash controls and preparing period-close documentation. This non-exempt position reports to the Operations Controller or Staff Accountant.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 3 years payroll and/or clerical accounting experience.
• Ability to interact with the public and coworkers in a friendly, enthusiastic and outgoing manner.
• Ability to read, comprehend instructions, short correspondence and policy documents.

Responsibilities

• Maintains logs and ledgers to facilitate period close.
• Assists in preparing financial reports for Corporate office.
• Handles accounts receivable functions: daily cash, envelopes, over/shorts, vouchers.
• Processes invoices and researches discrepancies in accounts payable.
• Processes bi-weekly payroll and reviews payroll registers.
• Conducts cash audits and cashier audits.
• Evaluates reports and audits; identifies control deficiencies.
