Liberty FCU, the Evansville-based credit union, seeks an Accounting Specialist for our Main Office in Evansville, IN. This role requires basic accounting knowledge and solid Excel skills, with a focus on accuracy and organization. You will handle journal entries, reconciliations, and closing activities in a fast-paced environment.

Experience with tax and regulatory reporting is a plus. You will learn and use the DNA and FAS accounting systems and provide backup support as needed.

Qualifications

• Accounting knowledge through educational courses taken or job experience.
• Basic knowledge of Excel required; advanced knowledge preferred.
• Candidate should be detail-oriented, organized, and accurate.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsabilités

• Journal entries: Prepare, post and verify journal entries for various general ledgers.
• Reconciliations: Perform daily, weekly or monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts to identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Closing Procedures: Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities, ensuring all transactions are finalized and reflected in the general ledgers.
• Tax and Compliance: Assist with property tax and other regulatory reporting.
• Support: Provide support within the department by backing up various job duties.
• System: Develop a working knowledge of the credit union's DNA system and FAS accounting system as it applies to your specific job duties.
