Job summary

Span Alaska Transportation in Washington state is seeking an Accounting Specialist to reduce accounts receivable balances and collect on driver collect accounts. You will investigate billing issues and route information to resolve them.

You will engage in collection calls, provide customer service, and maintain assigned accounts while coordinating with other teams to accelerate payments. This fast-paced role rewards accuracy and teamwork in a growing logistics environment.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma required.
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in high paced and volume collections.
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Manage collection calls and/or correspondence in a fast-paced, goal-oriented collections department.
  • Provide customer service regarding collection issues, process customer refunds, process, and review account adjustments, resolve client discrepancies and short payments.
  • Monitor and maintain assigned accounts.
  • Work to reduce delinquency for assigned accounts.
  • Enlist the efforts of the credit manager and sales and senior management when necessary to accelerate the collection process.
  • Establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with customers and Span Alaska Transportation.
  • Audit delinquent accounts considered to be uncollectable; ensure maximum efforts have been taken before assigning bad credit status to account.
  • Driver-collect calls.
  • Perform other assigned tasks and duties necessary to support the Accounts Receivable department.

About The Role

The Accounting Specialist is responsible for the reduction of accounts receivables balances, collecting on driver collect accounts as well as researching any outstanding billing or rating issues and forwarding information through the appropriate channels to be resolved.

The hourly range is posted for this position in Washington. The hourly rate will depend upon qualifications and other operational considerations.
