Job summary

Great American Insurance Group in Cincinnati is seeking an Accounting Representative to research, process, allocate and record cash transactions for GAIC, MCC, and Republic. You will manage bank accounts, lockboxes, journal entries, and disbursements while supporting Agency Bill and Direct Bill operations.

The role requires attention to detail, strong organizational and communication skills, and comfort handling confidential information.

Qualifications

• College degree preferred, 1–3 years accounting support experience.
• Strong multitasking, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, especially Excel.

Responsibilities

• Research payments, create journal entries, allocate funds and record receipts.
• Manage ACH, wire, check, and lockbox transactions with banking partners.
• Prepare cash receipt and intercompany journal entries, including transfers.
• Process refunds and payments received in error.
• Maintain processing statistics, support monthly reporting, update procedures.
• Provide critical support to Agency Bill and Direct Bill operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The Accounting Representative is responsible for accurately researching, identifying, processing, allocating, and recording cash transactions for Great American Insurance Company (GAIC), Mid-Continent Casualty Company (MCC), and Republic. The position supports multiple bank accounts and lockboxes, manages a variety of payment types, prepares related journal entries and disbursements, and provides critical support to Agency Bill and Direct Bill operations. To support this, employees in this role are expected to be on‑site four days a week, with the flexibility to work one day remotely. Core in‑office days are Tuesday–Thursday, with the fourth day determined by business needs.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

• Cash Processing: Researching and applying payments, creating journal entries, allocating funds, and recording agency‑related receipts.
• Bank and Lockbox Management: Managing ACH, wire, check, and lockbox transactions, resolving exceptions, processing returned payments, and coordinating with banking partners.
• Accounting Support: Preparing cash receipt and intercompany journal entries, including transfers when payments are received by the incorrect legal entity.
• Disbursements: Processing refunds and payments related to funds received in error.
• Reporting and Documentation: Maintaining processing statistics, supporting monthly reporting, and updating procedures and process documentation.
• Team Support: Providing critical support to Agency Bill and Direct Bill operations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• Education: College degree preferred but not required 1-3 years of experience in accounting support functions Demonstrates multi‑tasking, attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Preferred experience with all Microsoft Office 365 applications, especially Excel.
