Job summary

The Carlyle Group, via Carlyle AlpInvest, seeks an experienced Manager of Technical Accounting Policy to lead GAAP policy and advisory across platforms. You will standardize policies, perform complex accounting research, and collaborate with internal teams and external auditors to ensure accurate FIN reporting.

Requires 5+ years in public or technical accounting, deep US GAAP knowledge (ASC 606/810/820), and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in public accounting or technical accounting policy.
• In-depth knowledge of US GAAP with proficiency in research, analysis, and documentation.
• Experience applying US GAAP to alternative asset management fund structures and economics (ASC 606, ASC 810, ASC 820).
• SOX 404 experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the GAAP accounting liaison between Accounting Policy and the business and across Carlyle functions.
• Standardize and maintain accounting policies; draft policy papers and memos.
• Conduct technical accounting research and prepare analyses for external auditors.
• Develop knowledge of fund structures (master-feeder, parallel funds, AIVs) and reflect them in analyses.
• Advise on fund-level investment accounting policy (recognition, measurement, reporting).
• Advise on ASC 810, ASC 860, ASC 460/470, ASC 820, ASC 323, ASC 606 and related areas.
• Monitor adoption of new accounting pronouncements and industry trends.
• Support fund-level financial reporting and SEC disclosures; assist SOX 404 compliance.
• Support technology and process transformation to integrate accounting operations.
