Job summary

Tews Company in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking an Accounting & Payroll Manager to own payroll operations and support accounting. This role is hybrid with international scope and significant cross-functional collaboration.

The position requires strong full-cycle payroll experience, Bachelors in a related field, and hands-on HRIS implementation expertise. You will help build a new payroll/accounting function and drive process improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred.
• Strong full-cycle payroll experience.
• Experience with payroll/HRIS implementation or system migration preferred.
• Solid accounting/GL experience, including month-end close and reconciliations.
• Strong Excel skills.
• Self-starter with strong problem-solving and ability to work independently.
• Adaptable and comfortable owning a newly created role.
• International payroll experience preferred; hospitality experience is a plus.
• Experience with M3, Celery, or similar systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation and migration of a new HRIS/payroll system.
• Oversee full-cycle payroll processing and ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Support month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Partner with internal and international teams to ensure accurate and timely payroll and accounting processes.
• Identify opportunities to improve payroll and accounting processes, controls, and efficiencies.
• Support additional accounting and finance initiatives as needed.

This is more than a traditional payroll or accounting role. A growing organization is seeking an Accounting & Payroll Manager to take ownership of payroll operations, support accounting, and play a key role in building a new function from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities
