Job summary

CarMax is seeking a highly skilled professional to support the Accounting Operations Business Support & Analytics function at the Home Office in Richmond, Virginia. This role drives process optimization, advanced analytics, automation, and technology innovation across Accounting Operations and enterprise partnerships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of accounting, finance, business operations, analytics, automation, or related experience with GAAP.
• 3+ years in business analytics, process improvement, data engineering, automation, or operational excellence.
• Experience with Alteryx, RPA, Python, Power Platform or similar analytics platforms.
• Experience applying AI/ML to improve processes or decisions.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Data analytics experience and SQL proficiency.
• Tableau or Power BI experience preferred.
• Experience with cloud-based analytics platforms and modern data architectures.

Responsibilities

• Review, analyze, and optimize accounting operations processes for automation, efficiency, risk reduction, and controls.
• Design, develop, and support AI-enabled, RPA, and workflow automation solutions.
• Use Copilot, Claude, Alteryx, Python, SQL, Power Platform to transform and analyze data.
• Develop dashboards and reports providing actionable insights to leadership and partners.
• Serve as a SME for process improvement, automation, data governance, and emerging tech.
• Lead strategic projects on operational transformation and digital enablement.
• Collaborate with Accounting, Finance, Technology, Compliance to define requirements.
• Evaluate AI, ML capabilities to identify opportunities aligned with business objectives.
• Document processes, automation details, and technical requirements for scalability.
• Challenge status quo with innovative approaches improving customer experience and efficiency.
• Perform root cause analyses and provide data-driven recommendations.
