The State of Minnesota seeks an Accounting Officer/Purchasing Team Lead in St. Paul to join the FMR division. You will perform the full range of accounting, purchasing, and related tasks, lead the team, and manage contracts, reporting, and policy compliance.
This role offers up to a 50% hybrid telework arrangement with occasional onsite attendance for meetings. Regular hours are day shift, Monday–Friday, with competitive state benefits and a focus on accuracy and customer service.

The Financial Management and Reporting (FMR) division provides administrative services internally with the agency, overseeing strategic and operational planning, performance management, financial management, internal controls, budget planning, human resources, and information technology. The division also provides the same support services to the Small Agency Resource Team (SmART) program, boards, councils, and commissions.This position works in the Purchasing unit.
In this position as the Accounting Officer/Purchasing Team Lead, you will perform and coordinate the full range of professional accounting functions, purchasing, and related tasks as an integral part of Admin’s FMR division. Functions and tasks include providing lead work within the team; purchasing and contracts; EIOR system administration; establishing annual blanket purchase amounts; training and communicating on applicable legal or policy requirements and processes; and financial reporting, including standard and ad hoc financial documents and/or statements.
This position is eligible for up to a 50% hybrid telework arrangement. With a telework arrangement, additional onsite attendance may be required for team meetings or as requested by management to meet business needs. Completion of a telework agreement will be required. The following qualifications are required of all applicants seeking consideration for this position. Only applicants whose application materials clearly demonstrate fulfillment of each of these minimum qualifications will be considered for the position.
Two (2) years of experience providing administrative and/or technical support duties to purchasing/contracting accounting, such as requisitions, executing contracts, and reconciliation of accounts.
Knowledge of accounting principles and practices (i.e., generally accepted accounting principles) and other applicable statutes, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and best practices.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite to include Excel and Word to create and run complex reports and to conduct financial analysis.
Problem-solving and good organizational/planning skills necessary to resolve complex fiscal issues independently to complete assignments within established time frames.
Strong attention to detail and high degree of accuracy working with numbers and crucial recordkeeping daily.
Excellent customer service skills and the ability to handle high-volume work and stressful situations in a positive, proactive manner.
Ability to interpret, understand, apply, and train team members and partners on applicable policies and procedures.
