Job summary

Forgent Power is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead the financial close, revenue recognition, project costing, and WIP analyses. The role supports the Controller, mentors the finance team, and drives timely, accurate financial reporting across projects.

The ideal candidate has GAAP knowledge, strong Excel skills, and experience in project-based engineering/manufacturing. This on-site position requires a proactive, detail-oriented finance professional.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required.
• Minimum of 7 years’ accounting experience, preferably with a project/revenue focus.
• Experience in Project-Based Engineering & Manufacturing.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including lookups and advanced formulas.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to partner cross-functionally.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple projects, and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong analytical thinking, organizational skills, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the financial close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Mentor, lead, coach others on the finance team.
• Research and provide guidance on complex accounting issues.
• Act as a backup for the Controller when needed.
• Perform contract and revenue recognition analysis in compliance with GAAP.
• Track and analyze project costs, providing margin and project health insights to leadership.
• Conduct WIP reporting and analysis to maintain accurate project financials.
• Perform deferred and unbilled revenue analysis to ensure appropriate revenue recognition.
• Support revenue forecasting for ongoing and upcoming projects.
• Manage commission accounting, ensuring timely and accurate commission payments based on project billings.
• Prepare financial reports for project managers and leadership to support strategic decision-making.
• Partner with business leaders to understand operational processes and identify potential issues.
• Lead continuous process improvement initiatives to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
