Job summary

Forgent Power Solutions, Inc. is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead the financial close, revenue recognition, project costing, and WIP analysis. You will mentor the team and back up the Controller to ensure timely financial reporting.

The ideal candidate has GAAP expertise, ASC 606, strong Excel and ERP skills, and a track record of improving processes in a fast-growing environment. On-site position, four days a week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
• Minimum of 7 years’ accounting experience with a project/revenue focus preferred.
• Experience in Project-Based Engineering & Manufacturing organizations preferred.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including lookups and advanced formulas.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the financial close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Mentor, lead, coach others on the finance team.
• Research and provide guidance on complex accounting issues.
• Act as a backup for the Controller when needed.
• Perform contract and revenue recognition analysis in compliance with GAAP.
• Track and analyze project costs, providing margin and project health insights to leadership.
• Conduct WIP (Work-in-Progress) reporting and analysis to maintain accurate project financials.
• Perform deferred and unbilled revenue analysis to ensure appropriate revenue recognition.
• Support revenue forecasting for ongoing and upcoming projects.
• Manage commission accounting, ensuring timely and accurate commission payments based on project billings.
• Prepare financial reports for project managers and leadership to support strategic decision-making.
• Partner with business leaders to understand operational processes and identify potential issues.
• Lead continuous process improvement initiatives to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
• Complete other accounting and special projects as assigned

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
• Minimum of 7 years’ accounting experience, preferably with a project / revenue focus
• Experience in Project-Based Engineering & Manufacturing organization
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including lookups and advanced formulas
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to partner cross-functionally
• Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple projects, and meet tight deadlines
• Strong analytical thinking, organizational skills, and attention to detail

Preferred

• CPA or CMA with public accounting experience
• Power BI experience helpful
• Prior experience in percentage of completion accounting preferred
• Experience in high-growth, dynamic environment
