Job summary

Liberty Utilities is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead the general accounting and financial reporting for designated operations. The role oversees month-end close, balance sheet integrity, regulatory reporting, audits, and policy compliance, partnering with Finance, Regulatory, Operations, and Customer Service to drive efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree or equivalent required.
• CPA designation (CPA Canada or equivalent).
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, account reconciliations, and internal controls.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience within utilities, energy, infrastructure, or other regulated industries.
• FERC/NARUC expertise/compliance.
• Experience with SAP.
• Knowledge of regulatory accounting practices.
• Experience supporting SOX compliance and external audits.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities.
• Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements and management reporting packages.
• Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting analyses.
• Monitor close performance metrics and drive improvements to reduce cycle times and enhance quality.
• Support regulatory filings, rate applications, and related accounting analyses.
• Lead, coach, and develop a team of accountants and accounting analysts.
