Salary Range: $104,000.00 To $110,000.00 Annually

INTRODUCTION

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all accounting operations within the organization. Key duties include maintaining the general ledger, developing and recommending accounting policies and procedures, ensuring effective internal controls, preparing monthly financial reports, and supervising accounts payable and general accounting functions. This role requires strong financial management skills, sound judgment, and the ability to lead accounting processes that support organizational goals and compliance requirements. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, along with 4–5 years of relevant professional experience. CPA designation preferred. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong analytical skills, sound judgment, and the ability to effectively plan, prioritize, and achieve organizational objectives. Prior supervision experience and working with underserved or homeless populations is preferred.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists the Controller in the monthly close process and preparation of the monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Assists the Controller in monitoring the Company's financial performance by performing financial analysis that helps to identify and explain context, trends, relationships of business activities.
  • Manages and oversees the daily operations of the accounting department.
  • Responsible for accurate financial statement reporting, recording financial transactions, and coordinating accounting transaction.
  • Actively leads, manages, mentors and trains accounting staff in the recording of transactions.
  • Provides technical expertise and guidance to address financial questions.
  • Perform quarterly balance sheet and P&L fluctuation analysis.
  • Reviews accounting principles and makes recommendations for improvements.
  • Assist in reconciling grants and patient revenue activity.
  • Assist in the preparation of audit schedules.
  • Assist with quarterly and annual tax filings.
  • Undertake ad hoc projects as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration.
  • 8 – 15 years of experience in accounting; not for profit preferred.
  • CPA preferred.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written, and phone communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures; including a Non-Profit environment.
  • Working knowledge of other Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.Experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge Accounting system preferred.
