Job summary

American 1 Credit Union in Jackson, Michigan is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead the Accounting department’s daily operations, including accounts payable, general ledger transactions, balancing, reconciliations, regulatory reporting, and analysis.

You will partner with the VP of Finance and CFO to foster a culture of focus, engagement, trust, and continuous improvement, while ensuring accurate, compliant financial reporting and timely month-end close.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• 4–5 years of related experience in a financial institution is required.
• At least two years of management experience is required.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day accounting operations and ensure timely reporting.
• Oversee accounts payable, item processing, general ledger transactions, balancing, reconciliations.
• Manage regulatory reporting and analysis functions; support external audits.
• Collaborate with VP of Finance and CFO to drive culture and performance.
• Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
