Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Information Technology (NCDIT) is seeking an Accounting Manager I (NS) in Wake County with strong AR and cash management leadership. This role reports to the Accounting Manager II/Controller and ensures accurate reporting for the ACFR while guiding daily AR operations and reconciliations.

The position emphasizes knowledge of government accounting, adherence to GASB/GAAP, and managing a team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related discipline with 18 accounting coursework hours.
• Five years of professional accounting experience, including preparation and review of financial statements and reports, with at least one year in a supervisory role.

Responsibilities

• Advise the Accounting Manager II/Controller on AR and cash management matters and support policy updates.
• Oversee all departmental accounts receivable and cash management operations.
• Analyze and improve AR and cash processes in coordination with leadership.
• Ensure compliance with State guidance, GASB standards, GAAP, and internal policies.
• Manage daily reconciliations, cash availability, transactions, deposits, disbursements, and required NCFS journals.
• Prepare quarterly AR reports, monthly bank reconciliations, and other financial reports.
• Lead collection activities, including delinquency notifications and DOR Debt Setoff coordination.
• Serve as primary contact for internal and external AR and cash management inquiries.
• Provide accurate AR and cash data for ACFR reporting.
• Identify issues, recommend solutions, and interpret AR and cash reports for management.
• Distribute fiscal year end instructions and ensure all necessary NCFS entries are completed.
• Ensure AR staff receive necessary training.
