Job summary

The University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, is seeking an Accounting Manager in the Student Financial Accounting department to oversee accounting reconciliations for student and business invoices. You will create journal entries, enforce finance policies, and guide staff accountants and student workers to ensure accurate monthly and annual closes.

You will lead cross-functional collaboration, develop workflows for efficiency, and review reconciliations for accuracy and timeliness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field from an accredited institution of higher education
• At least two years of supervisory experience
• At least three years of progressively responsible experience in a higher education or a financial setting
• Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Excel

Responsibilities

• Creates monthly, annual, and correcting journal entries to ensure general ledger accuracy
• Directs, develops, enhances, and enforces regulations and policies regarding the proper procedures for student and business invoice related accounting
• Collaborates with internal and external partners to create, enhance, and correct workflows leading to increased efficiency and accuracy of accounting related to student financial and business invoice transactions
• Maintains detailed, accurate, and complete student related and business invoice related financial data to ensure required reporting is available at the proper time
• Interviews, trains, manages, develops, sets performance goals, and evaluates staff accountants and an accounting focused student worker
• Reviews, analyzes, approves, corrects, and provides guidance on monthly and annual reconciliations of staff accountants verifying accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and competence
• Plans, organizes, and directs the daily work of accounting staff to drive efficiencies, develop and enforce policy, and fosters collaboration with internal and external partners
