Job summary

Markon is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee key aspects of the monthly close, financial reporting, technical accounting, and compliance within a growing government contracting organization. This role serves as a hands-on leader responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with U.S.

GAAP and government contracting regulations, and driving continuous process improvements.

Qualifications

• US Citizenship required
• 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience, including government contracting
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and month-end close processes
• Working knowledge of FAR, CAS, DCAA compliance, indirect rate structures, and government contract accounting
• Experience with intercompany reconciliations, consolidation, and payroll accounting
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes with timely, accurate financial reporting
• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, supporting schedules, and analyses
• Maintain integrity of the general ledger and balance sheet across multiple entities
• Support acquisition integrations with consistent accounting policies and reporting
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, FAR, CAS, DCAA, and company policies
• Assist with DCAA audits, incurred cost submissions, and regulatory reporting
• Collaborate with Contracts, Billing, and Program Finance on project accounting and revenue recognition
• Provide leadership and mentorship to accounting staff
