Job summary

Oak View Group is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee financial, accounting, purchasing, and internal control functions. The role is on-site at venues in Mobile, AL, with hours aligned to events and finance needs.

Salary ranges from $50,000 to $55,000 annually, with comprehensive benefits. You will manage month-end close, bank reconciliations, and coordination with the Finance Director, while ensuring accurate reporting for arena-style venues and convention centers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or above in accounting/finance/business administration or related field is preferred.
• 3-5 years of Arena/Hotel/Convention Center accounting experience.
• Prior supervisory/management responsibility is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the month-end close process, including percentage of completion files for ongoing projects.
• Collaborate with the Director of Finance on financial decisions and insights.
• Monitor accounts receivable and accounts payable, including weekly billing, collection, invoicing, and payment processing.
• Oversee cash handling, deposits, and bank reconciliations.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly and adjust journals as needed; assist with external audits and tax activities.
• Perform complex account analyses and reconciliations; assist with annual audits.
• Process event settlements and reconciliations; ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Communicate with senior management to elevate issues and provide recommendations.
• Contribute to finance initiatives and other duties as assigned.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Finance Director, the Accounting Manager plans and manages many aspects of financial, accounting, purchasing, and internal control functions for the management team by performing the following duties. This position is on-site at the Saenger Theatre, Regions Arena, or Mobile Convention Center, depending on the assigned account. Standard business hours apply, with occasional flexibility required to support events, including mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed. Must maintain regular attendance and a professional presence.

This role pays an annual salary of $50,000 - $55,000.

About the Venue

The Saenger Theatre is a historic theater and contributing building to the Lower Dauphin Street Historic District in Mobile, Alabama. It was dedicated in January 1927. The Saenger Theatre is a Mobile landmark, known for its architecture and ties to local cultural history. The Saenger Theatre has a seating capacity of 1,906 and has the ability to host a wide variety of event types.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the month-end close process, including managing the percentage of completion files for ongoing projects to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Collaborate with the Director of Finance on financial decisions, utilizing your expertise to provide valuable insights and recommendations.
• Monitor the overall accounts receivable and accounts payable system, including weekly billing, collection, invoicing, and payment processing.
• Oversee cash handling procedures, prepare bank deposits, and reconcile bank accounts.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly, provide recommendations on corrections and adjust journal entries, and record journal entries upon approval.
• Perform various complex account analyses and reconciliation. Assist with annual external auditing and tax activities.
• Perform account analysis to assist with ensuring accurate financial reporting.
• Plays key roles in monthly and quarterly close processes.
• Communicate with multiple levels, including the senior levels in the organization, and elevate issues to appropriate management.
• Complete event settlements and event reconciliation
• Demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to contribute to finance initiatives
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree or above from an accredited college/university with major coursework in accounting, finance, or business administration or a related field is strongly preferred.
• 3-5 years of Arena/Hotel/Convention Center accounting experience.
• Prior supervisory/management responsibility is preferred.
