Job summary

Gilbane Building seeks an Accounting Manager to lead financial administration for a portfolio of multi-million dollar projects. The role supports month-end close, manages WIP, and collaborates with the controller.

The position sits primarily in the office in Columbus or Cleveland, with travel to project sites as needed. You will oversee a team, drive budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes, and escalate risks while maintaining strong communication with operations leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
• 8–10 years of experience in accounting/finance, preferably in construction.
• Travel 30% of the time.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Manages workload and 3–5 direct reports (Account Practitioners, Senior Accountants, Accountants).
• Assists the Business Controller with staff and peer group meetings.
• Fosters a positive, inclusive environment to motivate team members.
• Communicates project financial health to non-financial leadership.
