Compensation: $125,000-150,000
We're are supporting another client within the Advisory space in their search for a Client Services Accounting leader. For this role, we are looking for an Accounting Manager who knows government contracting accounting well and enjoys a role with variety, challenge, and continue career development. In this role, you will lead a portfolio of client engagements and set up and run the accounting systems that let growing firms focus on what they do best. You'll also become the advisor they call before they make a big decision.
Responsibilities:
- Manage monthly close, financial reporting, and account reconciliations for a portfolio of GovCon clients, typically $2M to $50M in revenue
- Act as the main finance point of contact for client founders, CEOs, and contracts teams
- Turn complex financial results into clear, actionable insight for business owners
- Design and put in place accounting systems that meet DCAA and FAR Part 31 requirements, including chart of accounts, job costing, and unallowable cost segregation
- Get clients ready for SF 1408 pre-award accounting system reviews
- Set up and monitor compliant timekeeping policies and procedures
- Develop, calculate, and monitor indirect rate structures: fringe, overhead, and G&A
- Prepare provisional billing rates, forward pricing rates, and year-end true-ups
- Prepare or review Incurred Cost Submissions (ICS)
- Support pricing and proposal teams with rate build-ups for FFP, T&M, and cost-reimbursable bids
- Serve as the liaison during DCAA and DCMA audits and agency inquiries
- Advise clients through growth events such as graduating from 8(a), moving from sub to prime, first cost-type contracts, and system upgrades
- Help clients migrate to GovCon ERP platforms like Deltek Costpoint or Unanet
- Supervise, review, and mentor staff and senior accountants
- Help improve firm methodology, templates, and best practices
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in federal government contracting (industry, public accounting, or advisory)
- Hands-on knowledge of FAR Part 31, DCAA audit requirements, and indirect rate development
- Experience with incurred cost submissions and provisional billing rates
- Proficiency with at least one GovCon accounting platform: Deltek Costpoint, Unanet, Deltek Vantagepoint, or QuickBooks with GovCon job-costing add-ons
- Strong Excel skills, especially rate models and cost pools
- Ability to explain technical accounting clearly to non-financial business owners
- CPA (or actively pursuing)
- Experience in a client-facing advisory, CPA, or outsourced accounting firm
- Exposure to Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and contractor business systems
- Familiarity with SBA programs (8(a), WOSB, HUBZone, SDVOSB) and size standard considerations
- Experience supervising or mentoring accounting staff
