Job summary

Cherry Bekaert Recruiting & Staffing is partnering with a well-established organization in the Bethesda, MD area seeking an Accounting Manager to lead day-to-day accounting operations. This role will oversee core operational accounting functions, month-end close, financial reporting, and team/process management.

The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting knowledge, leadership ability, and experience operating in a deadline-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory experience.
• CPA preferred.
• Experience with large ERP systems (NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Unanet, Costpoint or similar).

Responsibilities

• Oversee monthly close, reconciliations, and financial reporting activities.
• Manage general ledger operations and ensure timely, accurate accounting results.
• Review journal entries, account analyses, and supporting schedules.
• Supervise accounting staff and support team development.
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting processes.
• Partner with leadership on reporting, audit support, and operational improvements.
• Assist with systems optimization and accounting process standardization.
