Integrity Trade Services is seeking an Accounting Manager for our food manufacturing client to start immediately at $80k-$100k/annually DOE. The role will oversee monthly close, general ledger, budgeting, and financial reporting across two manufacturing sites in Chicago and Buffalo, with travel to Buffalo up to twice a month.

The ideal candidate will have 3–5+ years progressive accounting experience, a Bachelor’s in Accounting/Finance, manufacturing exposure, and proficiency with Excel and ERP

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting systems or ERP platforms.
• Experience with month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Manufacturing accounting experience is required; experience in food manufacturing is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities.
• Maintain the accuracy of the general ledger and ensure transactions comply with established accounting policies.
• Complete balance-sheet reconciliations and research discrepancies or variances.
• Support the preparation of financial statements, internal reporting, and management reporting packages.
• Respond to audit requests and assemble documentation for external audit support.
• Monitor budgets and provide financial oversight for plant operations.
• Partner with site leadership on budget planning, spending discipline, and budget-versus-actual performance.

Responsibilities

This Senior Accountant / Accounting Manager position will provide financial and accounting support for two manufacturing/refining operations located in Chicago and Buffalo, New York. The individual in this role will oversee monthly reporting, general ledger activity, budget monitoring, and financial statement preparation across both sites. They will work closely with plant and terminal leadership while reporting through senior finance leadership.

This is a hands‑on opportunity for an independent accounting professional who can bring organization and consistency to financial processes, consolidate support across locations, and help keep operational spending aligned with budget expectations.

• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities.
• Maintain the accuracy of the general ledger and ensure transactions comply with established accounting policies.
• Complete balance‑sheet reconciliations and research discrepancies or variances.
• Support the preparation of financial statements, internal reporting, and management reporting packages.
• Respond to audit requests and assemble documentation for external audit support.
• Monitor accounts payable, accounts receivable, accruals, and prepaid expenses as needed.
• Assist with fixed‑asset accounting, depreciation, and lease accounting.
• Support intercompany accounting, including reconciliations and related journal entries.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting efficiency.
• Partner with cross‑functional teams to ensure financial information is accurate and submitted on time.
• Participate in special projects and other accounting responsibilities as assigned.
• Monitor budgets and provide financial oversight for plant operations.
• Partner with site leadership on budget planning, spending discipline, and budget-versus-actual performance.
• Work independently in a small, primarily in‑office team environment, with periodic travel.
• Manage day‑to‑day accounting activities directly while providing oversight and support to junior accounting personnel.

Location: University Park, IL

Qualifications

• Three to five or more years of progressive accounting experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting systems or ERP platforms.
• Experience with month‑end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Manufacturing accounting experience is required; experience in food manufacturing is strongly preferred.
• Strong communication skills, organizational ability, and attention to detail.
• Comfortable preparing general ledger entries and processing vendor payments.
• Demonstrated experience with budget management and budget-versus-actual analysis.
• Ability to work effectively with limited on‑site accounting support.
• Comfortable partnering directly with plant‑level and operations leadership.
• Willingness to travel to Buffalo, New York, up to twice per month.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience supporting multi‑site manufacturing operations.
• Experience managing or coordinating small accounting support teams or shared resources across multiple locations.
• CPA designation, equivalent credential, or active progress toward CPA certification.
• General tax knowledge, including exposure to sales tax, corporate tax, or other tax‑compliance responsibilities.
