Accounting Manager - Fintech Industry Highly Preferred

Compensation: 120K to 185K, DOE + equity | 99% employer-paid health insurance

As the business evolves, we’re looking for a hands-on, execution-oriented accounting professional to join our team at a critical point of growth.

About the Role

We’re hiring an experienced Accounting Manager or Senior Manager to take full ownership of our internal accounting function. You’ll oversee the monthly close process, lead audit prep, coordinate tax workflows, and ensure all reporting meets compliance and business needs in a fast-moving fintech environment. This is a highly autonomous role where you’ll work cross-functionally with finance, engineering, and data teams while supporting strategic decisions. Although not a people management role today, you will be the internal go-to for all accounting matters and process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the monthly close process (QuickBooks)
• Prepare for and support annual external audits, including financial statement drafting
• Oversee tax compliance workflows with external advisors
• Own documentation and improvement of internal accounting processes and controls
• Apply appropriate technical accounting treatment for fintech-specific transactions: loan origination, revenue recognition, equity, stock compensation, warrants, etc.
• Act as a point of contact for technical accounting support and guidance
• Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure scalable, efficient, and audit-ready processes

Ideal Candidate

• Public accounting background (Big 4 or similar); CPA preferred
• Industry experience in fintech, lending, or startup environments highly desirable
• Strong technical accounting knowledge and hands‑off experience running audits and monthly closes
• Proficient with QuickBooks and capable of improving financial systems and reporting
• Familiar with loan accounting, equity treatment, and complex financial products
• Detail‑oriented, self‑sufficient, and comfortable navigating ambiguity
• Excellent communication and cross‑functional collaboration skills
• Low ego, high ownership, thrives in a fast‑paced, mission‑driven environment

• Experience with warehouse lending structures, B2B lending models
• Prior exposure to equity accounting and loan accounting
