Job summary

Atlantic Group is seeking an Accounting Manager in Middlesex County, MA to oversee month-end close, financial reporting, and accounting operations. You will partner with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financials and strengthen internal controls.

The role requires 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, CPA and/or MBA preferred, and strong Excel/finance-system skills. Hybrid schedule with leadership responsibilities and process improvements across the team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• CPA certification and/or MBA preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience including month-end close, general ledger accounting, and financial reporting.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, accrual accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, internal controls, and close processes.
• Strong Microsoft Excel and financial systems skills; experience leveraging technology to improve processes.
• Leadership, organization, project management, communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and prioritization abilities required.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly month-end close activities with accurate entries, accruals, and adjustments.
• Review GL activity, reconciliations, and financial reporting for timeliness and accuracy.
• Oversee accounting operations and resolve issues in revenue, expenses, fixed assets, and other areas.
• Maintain policies, procedures, and internal controls to support GAAP compliance.

Job Overview – Accounting Manager

Compensation: $120,000 – $135,000/year + bonus

Location: Middlesex County, MA

Schedule: Monday to Friday (Hybrid)

Atlantic Group is hiring an Accounting Manager in Middlesex County, MA for our client, supporting general accounting, financial reporting, month-end close, and accounting operations. The Accounting Manager will oversee key accounting activities while partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial reporting, strengthen internal controls, and improve accounting processes. This role also provides team leadership responsibilities and opportunities to leverage technology to enhance reporting and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities as the Accounting Manager:

• Month-End Close: Lead monthly accounting close activities while ensuring transactions, journal entries, accruals, and adjustments are accurately recorded and supported.
• Financial Reporting: Review general ledger activity, account analyses, reconciliations, and financial reporting to maintain accurate and timely financial information.
• Accounting Operations: Oversee accounting activities and resolve issues related to revenue, expenses, fixed assets, and other operational accounting areas.
• Controls & Compliance: Maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to support GAAP compliance and reliable financial reporting.
• Process Improvement: Leverage financial systems and technology to improve reconciliations, reporting, analysis, and accounting workflows.
• Team Leadership: Manage and develop accounting professionals while promoting collaboration, accountability, and consistent execution across the team.

Qualifications for the Accounting Manager:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• Certification: CPA certification and/or an MBA is preferred.
• Experience: 5+ years of progressive accounting experience involving month-end close, general ledger accounting, and financial reporting is required, including experience leading or overseeing accounting activities.
• Industry Knowledge: Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, accrual accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, internal controls, and accounting close processes is required.
• Technical Skills: Strong Microsoft Excel and financial systems skills are required, with experience leveraging technology to improve accounting processes and reporting preferred.
• Skills & Attributes: Strong leadership, organization, project management, communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and ability to manage competing priorities are required.
